My curly Journey .
Growing up, I never understood my curly hair. No one did. The beauty standard was straight hair. With this being said, my only option was to employ relaxers and hair straighteners on a regular basis. Eventually one day the relaxer was gone, and I was left with a frizzy mess. Like most girls with curly hair, I was overwhelmed with trying to make sense of my curls. Kids that age were not so nice.
As I matured, however, I began to develop an intense appreciation for my distinctive hair. In this, I became enthralled with understanding, not only my curls, but everyone else’s; with this new love, I began my journey to becoming a licensed hair-stylist.
I graduated from the Aveda Institute in Denver Colorado in 2019. Around the halfway mark in my learning at Aveda, I began studying curly hair at More Than Curly Salon, for two years.
Today, I can say I understand all curly hair— from the loosest texture to the tightest. I am here to help the next person, not only understand, but embrace every curl and coil that grows out of their head.
Together, we will learn to love our curls!

What should I book?
If you are a first time client, you can send me a picture of your curls via phone/email or dm through instagram @yumas_beauty22
Something has come up and I can’t make the appointment. What should I do?
Please Dm, text, or call letting me know you can not make it 24 hours before your appointment. If it is within that time frame of 24 hours, you will be charged the service fee. Example: canceling your appointment 4 hours before, or no shows.
How should I come in the salon?
Please make sure your hair is not super duper tangly. If it is, please detangle before or a couple days in advanced. I would hate to waste our appointment on detangling, and as well as charge a detangling fee.
Will I have to purchase products?
That is completely up to you and your budget. The product regimen I recommend for your curls, are what I believe works in Colorado’s DRY climate. You can either purchase what you liked in the session, or take a picture of what was used! Please note that I am showing you products to help YOUR curls. If your curls are dehydrated, know that a curly session will not hydrate your curls. Products will.
My hair is damaged, can you make them curl?
No, naturally, I wish I could! I am not a magician. Even though, that would be amazing :D Please be prepared to either chop most of the dead hair or we can discuss other options.
Im scared to lose length, can we just do a trim and add layers?
When booking for a curly cut, know that the goal for me as your stylist, is one, to give you clean healthy ends. Two, to give you balance and shape, and last, to get you on a path to hydration. If your curls are longer on the top, and shorter underneath, some length is going to have to come off. As well as damaged ends and Etc.
Can I go a lighter color if I have used boxed dye, and can I also book a cut?
Please Dm or text me what your goals are and of course a picture of your curls. This session can sometimes take longer, if approved.
Can I book for color?
If you are a first time client, you may not book for color. I want to see the health of your curly first. As well as cleaning your ends. My main goal is always health first!
I just got a curly cut by another hairstylist, can I book for color?
No, every stylist is different. I still want to feel and get to know your curls before applying color.
What color can I achieve?
This depends on the hair color that you have and how much it will lift. If your hair is virgin and without previous dye than we can possibly achieve the color you are looking for. Blonde is not a color that I can get you to for the first appointment as well as other lighter colors.
